Future Traditions
29.10-06.11
The exhibition Future Traditions shows the result of a two year collaborative between Moholy Moholy-Nagy University of Arts and Design Budapest (MOME), Institute for traditional arts and folk music at The college in South -East Norway (Rauland) and Telemark Art Center.
Traditional arts from Hungary and Norway have been the foundation for creating new expressions and new objects. The artists have interpreted the tradition based on their personal experiences and preferences. The results are works with great variation, from collections in wood, metal and textiles to larger individual works.
The concept Future Traditions includes the past, the present and the future. In addition to traditional use of materials and techniques the artists have focused on how new and modern technology and untraditional materials, and combination of materials, can give new and exciting expressions and solutions.
Future Traditions is a collaborative between Moholy-Nagy University of Arts and Design Budapest (MOME), Institute of traditional arts and folk music at The college in South- East Norway and Telemark art center. The project is financed from EEA-funds. Project leaders: Head of institute Hedvig Harmati (MOME) and head of institute Bodil Akselvoll (HSN).
